The Youth Policy Platform is the main political document of Estonian National Youth Council. It is based on the Statutes of the Estonian National Youth Council (hereinafter ENL), according to which the objectives of the activities of ENL include representing its members youth policy interests in Estonia and abroad and shaping the public opinion and legislative environment supportive of young people and youth associations. One of the strategic objectives of the ENL Strategy 2009-2012 is to successfully participate in the shaping of policies concerning young people and youth associations both at the state and local government levels.
This platform reflects ENL's positions in the following areas: participation of young people, high-quality youth work, voluntary activity, financing youth associations, involvement of young people in the public sector, social guarantees, democracy in youth associations, young people's health, cooperation and networking between youth associations, tolerance and discrimination of young people, employment of young people, mobility of young people, special youth work, recognition of non-formal education, education, informing and counselling young people, the environment and sustainable development, ENL's international activities, young people with special needs and integration of non-Estonian young people.
In our further youth policy operations we adhere to the approved Youth Policy Platform. In addition, it is planned to prepare an area-based action plan as to when and how we try to effectively work for implementation of the positions set out in the platform.
The platform is revised and modified by the general meeting when necessary and in accordance with changes in society, but not less frequently than once a year. The Board of ENL and at least three member organisations have the right to initiate amendment of the platform.
