EU Youth Conference agreed on joint conclusions on Youth Employment policies

More than 100 youth delegates from all over Europe and 65 officials from EU governments gathered in Leuven to discuss the role of youth policy in developing better measures to promote youth employment in Europe.

After 3 intense days of common work, Xenia Constantinou, Vice-President of the European Youth Forum and Chair of the European Steering Committee for the Structured Dialogue presented the Joint Conclusions to the plenary and to European Commissioners responsible for Youth, Androulla Vassiliou and for Employment, Laszlo Andor.

The Conclusions stir from the joint work in the thematic workshops to investigate what the contribution of youth policy can be. During the Conference participants had the opportunity to fine-tune the recommendations from the national consultations and address them towards the appropriate level or institution (EU, Members states, young people and their organisations, etc.).

Read the Conclusions here, which will be transferred to the European Council by the Belgian Presidency in November, and thus will free the way to political results during the Hungarian Presidency in the first semester of 2011.
